Laser eye surgeries are usually done to correct vision problems.
Laser Retinopexy
- Is a same day in office procedure where a thermal laser is used to seal down any “breaks” in the retina or localized retinal detachments in order to prevent vision loss.
- Patients with new flashes and floaters often need to be evaluated to ensure no laser retinopexy is needed to prevent retinal detachment and vision loss
Pan Retinal Photocoagulation
- Is a laser treatment used to prevent vision loss from bleeding and abnormal growth of blood vessels. PRP is often the first line treatment and has been shown in numerous studies to prevent severe vision loss in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
